Using Our Posters 09/27/2009
Here are some photos and videos if you already have our posters and are looking for ideas Fotos y videos para los que ya tienen los afiches y están buscando ideas. The large Alpha-Poster set is a great tool to introduce the letters of the alphabet and increase your students' vocabulary. The durability and size of the posters make them ideal for many activities. The back of the posters has a chant that lends itself to many fun activities. We suggest for you to introduce only one poster per week and to place it in your writing center. ![]() Let your students decorate a shoe box and turn it into "Their Alphabet Collection". Every time a new letter is introduced they can bring items from home to add to it. This makes a fun activity for centers. Choose a day when all the students can introduce what they have in their Alphabet Collection. The photo above was taken at the end of the six week period. All the students bring the items they have collected. They have a great time matching their different items to the posters. ![]() Finding and adding more words. After you are through doing different activities with the poster: introducing the name and sound of the letter, reading the words, or finding beginning and ending sounds, put the poster on the wall by the writing center. Encourage your students to write their own words on post-it notes to add to the list. The more advanced students can divide the words into syllables or write sentences with them. At the end of the the day or at the end of the week, the students that post the most get a prize!!! The following photos were taken at the end of the six week period. A total of four posters were introduced. Students love adding new words and sentences. ![]() Identifying syllables using the back of the poster. Doing the Chant on the back of the posters!!! Teaching from the posters! ![]() The reproducible has many uses Make a set for every student of the reproducible to keep in the classroom. Use it as a morning warm up routine. I teach PreK. My kids love the chant on the back. I let them come up with their own rhythm and I tape record them. They enjoy listening to their own voices and trying to figure out who's voice is whose.
