Students are writing more vocabulary related to the themes for the month and their sentences are more complete.


Los estudiantes ya escriben más vocabulario relacionado con los temas del mes y las oraciones son   más completas.
They have started to feel more comfortable with the second section of the KWL "What we want to know"  How does snow fall from the sky? Why do the leaves die?

Están empezando a sentirsen más cómodos con la segunda parte de "KWL- Lo que queremos saber" ¿Cómo cae la nieve del cielo? ¿Por qué se mueren las hojas?

I try to put different books, encyclopedias and magazines where the students can find more information. Scholastics magazine is one of their favorites.

Trato de poner diferentes libros, enciclopedias y revistas donde los estudiantes puedan encontrar más infomación.  La revista de Scholastics es una de sus favoritas.
Martin  Luther King,  the civil rights activist, is one the important personalities we study during this month.

Martín Luther King, el activista de los derechos civiles, es una de las personalidades importantes que estudiamos durante este mes.

The students had a lot of fun checking and counting all the boots.  We used tally marks to count them and transfered the information to our graph.

Los estudiantes se divirtieron mucho mirando y contando todas las botas.  Hicimos el conteo y pasamos la información a la gráfica.

I took separate pictures of their boots and faces.  The students had a lot of fun matching the  faces to the right boots.

Tome fotos separadas de las botas y las caras de los estudiantes. Se divirtieron mucho buscando a quién pertenecían las botas.

Before we write, we use white blank paper because our mind is blank at that moment.  We call it the "Thinking Paper"

Antes de escribir usamos papel en blanco porque nuestra mente está en blanco.  Lo llamamos "Hoja o papel de pensamientos"

We write everything that comes to our mind.
It looks like a spider web.

Escribimos todo lo que se nos viene a la mente.  
Se parece a una telaraña.

We use another "Thinking Paper" to organize the words and ideas we wrote on the spiderweb.
Usamos otra  "Hoja o papel de pensamientos"  para organizar  las palabras y oraciones que escribimos en nuestra telaraña. 

With my ideas all organized I can concentrate on writing my story.

Con todas mis ideas organizadas me puedo concentrar en escribir mi historia.

For the teacher looking for bilingual center icons, I can recommend literacy work stations by Debbie Diller. In the back of the book are black line master in both Spanish and English to print, color and laminate. It also has lots of useful reproducables to use in the centers.
